New VW Virtus Facelift Spied Testing

The mid-size sedan rivals the likes of the mighty Hyundai Verna, Honda City and its own cousin, the Skoda Slavia, in our market

Updated on 04.05.2026 – The VW Virtus facelift was recently spotted performing road tests in India. Virtus is among the most popular mid-size sedans in the country. That is impressive since this segment has traditionally been dominated by the likes of the Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Nevertheless, with the help of the localized MQB A0 IN platform, VW and Skoda launched the Virtus and Slavia, respectively, to cater to new consumers. Hence, the Virtus became quite a success.

The latest video from topgearmagindia captures the camouflaged sedan plying on a busy highway. The front fascia partially reveals the modern age design philosophy of the German car marque. We witness the LED headlamp setup with a rather sleek grille section. Down below, the fog lamps are positioned on the edge of the bumper and the bonnet carries a distinct flowing demeanour. On the sides, we see the familiar sharp characteristic creases and sporty black alloy wheels. Finally, at the rear, there is a shark fin antenna and it appears that the LED taillamps will be sleek. Overall, there will be sufficient elements to distinguish it from the outgoing model, while staying true to the Virtus moniker.

VW Virtus Records Highest-Ever Monthly Sales in October 2025

Originally published on 06.11.2025 – The VW Virtus achieved an unprecedented feat of clocking 2,453 sales in October 2025, its highest ever for a single month. That speaks volumes about the kind of popularity it is enjoying in our market. Buyers generally go for the Virtus when they are looking for something sporty to drive. In fact, many people consider the Virtus a typical car for the driving enthusiasts. The peppy 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol mills offer impressive performance and driving dynamics. Even on the inside, the cabin feels premium with tons of new-age amenities.

Volkswagen says that the premium mid-size sedan has captured a share of over 40% in this segment in the last two months. Another key milestone with the India 2.0 cars is that the Taigun and Virtus have reached cumulative sales of over 1,60,000 units just in the domestic market. Clearly, the localization strategy has paid off as we see more and more customers opting for these vehicles despite stiff competition. I believe the lower maintenance costs and availability of more touchpoints in the last few years have been the prime reasons for the expansion of the German car marque. It remains to be seen how well VW is able to carry on this momentum.

VW Virtus GT Plus Sport Walkaround

We got the chance to experience this special edition of the Virtus in the flesh at the event. There are no fundamental changes to the design in comparison to the regular model. But there are some aesthetic modifications to make it look sportier. The German automaker has employed a clever strategy to differentiate the GT Plus Sport from the GT variant. Notably, the GT Plus Sport showcases distinctive enhancements, such as chrome linings on both the front and rear bumpers. Additionally, the grille has been blacked out to align with its sporty character. Furthermore, the door handles now boast a dark chrome finish, while the GT badges on the grille and fenders are adorned in red. Mirroring the Taigun GT Plus Sport, the Virtus GT Plus Sport also flaunts red brake callipers. Inside, the cabin features an all-black theme accented with red highlights and ambient lighting. Despite these updates, the features remain consistent with those of the standard GT trim.
