Market down -20%, BMW 7 Series (+88.9%) and 2 Series (+53.8%) shoot up – Best Selling Cars Blog

The BMW 7 Series almost doubles its Chinese sales year-on-year in November.

Imports of new cars in China are fast becoming a thing of the past, with November volumes down another -20% to just 41,730. Keep in mind November 2024 sales were already off -21% on the year prior. Year-to-date, the market drops -13.4% to 499,483. Lexus (-8.7%) resists somewhat to increase the gap with #2 Mercedes (-31.8%) in complete freefall. BMW (-7.5%) and Porsche (-8.3%) complete a Top 4 identical to last month. Land Rover (-26.1%) and Toyota (-8.3%) follow, while Audi (-51%), Volvo (-51.8%) and Volkswagen (-50.9%) all implode. Like last month, Mini (+157.7%) and Suzuki (+153.8%) completely ignore the depleted environment and more than double their sales year-on-year.

Model-wise, the podium is unchanged on October and YTD, with the Lexus ES (+2.6%) head and shoulders above the competition, selling over 3 times the #2, the Lexus RX (-21.9%) and managing a year-on-year uptick. The Mercedes GLE (-38.8%) collapses but still ranks #3 overall. The following 5 models all outpace the market, with the Porsche Panamera (+6.7%) in positive. The Land Rover Defender (-5.1%), Toyota Alphard (-7.1%), BMW 4 Series (-8.5%) and Porsche Cayenne (-9.9%) limit their fall. The BMW 7 Series (+88.9%) and 2 Series (+53.8%) defy the surrounding gloom.
